About the role
The Credential Advisor plays a crucial role in the Credential Office, supporting credential recommendation processes for initial, renewal, intern, and appeal credentials. They advise students on complex academic and credential requirements, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with institutional and state requirements.
Responsibilities
- Interprets policies and communicates with stakeholders
- Maintains compliance with institutional and state requirements
- Conducts pre- and post-admission advisement via individual appointments, phone calls, emails, and walk-ins
- Conducts large group presentations, including information sessions, orientation sessions, next steps sessions, outreach and recruitment events, and activities
- Evaluates, processes, and submits credential recommendations in compliance with state regulations to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
- Verifies completion of requirements and certifies all candidates for recommendation
- Researches and compiles credential progress reports, evaluates course substitutions, processes change of program requests, writes status letters, adds and removes registration holds, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a job-related field
- Two years of professional experience in a student services program area or related field
- A master’s degree in a job-related field may substitute for one year of the required professional experience
- Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear, accurate, and student-centered advisement on complex academic and credential requirements through multiple modalities
- Skilled in interpreting and applying university and state credential policies
- Proficient in leveraging student information systems and digital tools
- Knowledge of state credentialing regulations and institutional requirements
- Strong attention to detail, discretion, and accuracy
- Proficiency in utilizing student information systems and databases
- Ability to serve as a technical resource and collaborate with district personnel, human resources, and institutional partners
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
- Pay Range: $5083 - $7228 per month
- Hiring Rate: $5083 – $5400 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience
- Hours: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends
- Travel Required: Required to attend on-and off-campus conferences, events, workshops, and trainings
- Classification: 3082 / Student Services Professional II / 1
- Probationary Period: One Year
- Work Schedule: Currently Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs
