Creative Strategist
About the role
Playbook Media is a growth marketing agency founded in 2017 by CEO Bryan Karas, a former founding member of Facebook’s Disruptors team. We work with high-growth brands across D2C, financial services, SaaS, and beyond, combining deep marketing analytics and strategy with best-in-class paid media and creative to drive transformative growth. Rather than assuming more media spend is the answer, we start with a holistic analysis of what’s actually curtailing growth, then build a custom approach for each client. Our Creative Services team is central to that: developing the high-performing, multimedia creative that fuels paid media campaigns across Meta, TikTok, and other channels. We’re looking for a Creative Strategist to join that team.
Responsibilities
- Own creative strategy for a portfolio of clients end to end: research, concepting, briefing, directing editors through revisions, and presenting concepts on camera to clients.
- Diagnose what’s actually working in an account and why, using both the numbers (CPA, thumbstop) and content analysis (persona, messaging, format, creator).
- Turn customer and competitive research (social listening, competitor teardown, customer language) into a testing roadmap the team can execute against.
- Keep a genuine pulse on the industry: new formats, platform policy shifts, what’s breaking through on TikTok this month versus what’s played out.
- Write briefs an editor can pick up and execute easily, provide clear actionable notes and feedback that will improve the final edit.
- Protect the strategic intent of a concept through production, so what ships still does what it was built to do.
- Present concepts, creative learnings, and what’s coming next directly to clients with confidence; explain not just what performed, but why, in language a non‑creative stakeholder can act on.
- Partner with client teams on day‑to‑day communication and project updates so nothing falls through the cracks between meetings.
- Build trust with clients.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years in digital marketing, performance creative, or paid social; agency experience is a plus.
- Strong interest in advertising and love of social media and social trends.
- Interest in pop culture and trends in the zeitgeist.
- Comfort presenting on camera, live, to a client who might push back.
- Sharp writing and sharper judgment about what to cut.
- Enough organization to run multiple accounts without anything slipping, and enough curiosity that the process never goes stale.
Skills
- Ability to navigate multiple clients at once and multiple projects in different stages of production.
- Ability to separate “this got a lot of comments” from “this actually drove revenue.”
- Ability to have a take on why a category is stuck creatively, and creative solutions to improve performance.
- Copywriting or scripting chops (nice to have).
- Experience directing freelance creative talent (nice to have).
- Hands‑on UGC or testimonial‑style content experience (nice to have).
- Experience with compliance‑heavy, insurance, health, wellness, or supplement brands (nice to have).
Benefits
- 401(k) with company match
- Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
- Uncapped vacation and sick time
- Training and personal development support
- Parental leave
Pay
Competitive salary and bonus program
Schedule
Primarily remote work environment, with optional quarterly regional get-togethers
