The Creative Producer, Bon Appétit & Epicurious, is responsible for producing and directing engaging, high-quality video content across various formats. This role requires a strong instinct for food storytelling, a proven ability to work with talent, and a deep understanding of YouTube-native storytelling.

About the role

This role is based in New York City and reports to the Senior Director of Content Production. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree, 3+ years of experience producing and directing digital video, and a proven track record in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handles all production logistics for shoots, working collaboratively with Creative Producers, Directors, and Associate Producers as needed
  • Executes with confidence in both field and studio environments. Able to direct multi-camera shoots and talent
  • Creates, reviews, edits, and approves preliminary and final creative treatments, casting, and production schedules for all assignments
  • Directs and supports chef and celebrity talent to ensure authenticity and clarity. Creates a calm, organized, and positive on-set environment that enables strong performances
  • Reviews cuts and provides clear, actionable feedback from rough cuts through final delivery
  • Owes production logistics in partnership with Production Management, including schedules, budgets, freelance support, and legal matters
  • Identifies and implements workflows to improve production efficiency
  • Tracks content performance and applies insights to refine creative decisions and strengthen future episodes
  • Builds strong relationships with talent, crew, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Acts as a leader and mentor on set and within the team, modeling professionalism, clear communication, and a solution-oriented mindset
  • Contributes to brainstorms and the development of new formats and series

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience producing and directing digital video, ideally in food, lifestyle, or editorial content
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience overseeing the full production lifecycle (development through post)
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative execution

  • Mastery of YouTube video direction principles, including hook construction, retention-driven editing, and platform-specific visual storytelling that maximizes performance
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage crews and guide talent on set
  • Excellent editorial judgment and storytelling instincts
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail across multiple projects
  • Strong post-production sensibility with the ability to give clear, actionable notes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable approach to production

The expected base salary range for this position is from $87,000 - $110,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
