Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is required.
- Completion of formal credit training at a respected financial institution is preferred.
- 12+ years of commercial real estate lending or CRE banking experience, with a demonstrated focus on origination and relationship management is required.
- Proven track record of sourcing and closing CRE transactions, both construction and term loans is required.
- Experience in administering construction loans and the draw process is required.
- Experience managing a CRE portfolio and working directly with internal management and credit partners is required.
- Strong analytical skills and superior communication skills (both oral and written) are required.
- Strong understanding of commercial real estate finance, underwriting, and risk management is required.
- Solid knowledge of Texas CRE markets and local sponsor landscape is required.
- Ability to analyze project financial statements, rent rolls, pro formas, and appraisal reports is required.
- Ability to analyze guarantor financial statements and real estate schedules is required.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and client communication skills are required.
- Prior experience managing a team is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deals and priorities simultaneously are required.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and utilization of the internet is required.
- Commitment to demonstrating First Security’s Core 5 values with customers and coworkers is required.
Hours of Availability
HOURS OF AVAILABILITY: Regularly Scheduled Hours/Week: 40 (+) hours per week
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
*Extended working hours may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The position is production-oriented and requires strong market knowledge, sponsor relationships, and the ability to independently originate new business while managing an existing portfolio.
- Adhere to all department and company policies and procedures and follow applicable banking regulations.
- Originate new commercial real estate lending opportunities through direct sourcing, referrals, and relationships with developers, investors, brokers, attorneys, CPAs, and other intermediaries.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for CRE clients, providing strategic banking advice and long-term relationship management.
- Develop and maintain a strong local presence and referral network within the Texas commercial real estate market.
- Structure, negotiate, and execute commercial real estate transactions, including construction, bridge, term, and mini-perm loans across multiple asset classes.
- Conduct comprehensive deal analysis, including sponsor evaluation, property cash flow, market conditions, and collateral assessment.
- Prepare and present credit recommendations to internal credit committees, including loan memoranda and supporting documentation.
- Negotiate loan pricing, covenants, and closing conditions consistent with bank policies and risk appetite.
- Manage an assigned CRE loan and client portfolio, monitoring performance, financial reporting, covenant compliance, and overall credit quality.
- Proactively identify and mitigate emerging portfolio risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Partner with credit, underwriting, and loan operations teams to drive efficient deal execution, accurate booking, and timely closing.
- Stay informed on Texas commercial real estate market trends, including pricing, capitalization rates, and economic indicators.
- Represent the bank at industry events, conferences, and client functions to enhance brand presence and generate new business opportunities.
- Maintain compliance with all bank policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Protect all customer information and bank operations through strict confidentiality.
- Operate computer software and equipment, telephone, scanner, and copier, and develop proficiency with internal banking systems.
- Maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, punctual attendance, and the ability to work on-site with occasional extended hours when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

- The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Maintain a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle that can be used for business travel purposes.
