What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Oversee the full lifecycle of all crate request jobs—including estimating, booking, scheduling, and supervising production—while continuously refining systems to improve output, manage costs, and adhere to assigned budgets.
- Prioritize and plan work activities, determine additional resource needs, and ensure the cratemaking staff remains fully compliant with all required training and timekeeping protocols.
- Partner closely with Account Managers and other internal departments to communicate project changes, while providing friendly, high-quality, and professional service to develop strong relationships with customers.
- Maintain meticulous paperwork, including timesheets, purchase orders, waybills, maintenance records, and database billing, while managing expense reports for company-issued Purchase Cards.
- Manage and control all crate shop materials and supplies, ensuring crating tools and equipment are in safe, working order by facilitating regular maintenance with vendors.
What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
- 5+ years of related experience and/or training in cratemaking and fine art packing (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong knowledge of industry-specific packing and crating techniques, including museum travel exhibitions, two-way/economical crating methods, three-dimensional packing, archival materials, and museum specifications.
- Proven ability in technical and mathematical applications, including calculating dimensions, volume, area, and percentages, alongside the ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts to crate design.
- Excellent communication and administrative skills, with a working knowledge of Moveware, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, a meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to effectively present information to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
