Crane Operator - Primoris Heavy Civil - Holden, LA
Job Overview
Job Responsibilities
- Operate hydraulic, lattice boom, and other types of cranes to lift, move, position, and place heavy materials and equipment.
- Read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and hand signals to determine load capacities, lifting procedures, and proper placement of materials.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections of cranes, including checking fluid levels, controls, and safety devices, and documenting findings.
- Maintain clear communication with ground crew, signal persons, and supervisors during lifting operations.
- Ensure the stability of the crane and the load by verifying proper rigging and load securement.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and local codes regarding crane operation.
- Carry out routine maintenance and lubrication of crane components as required.
- Identify and report any malfunctions or defects of the crane to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with other construction tasks on site when not operating the crane, as directed by the supervisor.
Job Qualifications
- Valid NCCCO certification for the type of crane being operated.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable experience as a crane operator, preferably in heavy civil construction.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret load charts and operational manuals.
- Strong understanding of rigging techniques and equipment.
- Excellent depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with construction work.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
