Overview
Responsible for operating crane (hydro cranes, crawler cranes, and/or pile driving hammers) to hoist, move and place materials and objects.
Responsibilities
- Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures
- Operation of levers and pedals to raise, lower and rotate boom and to raise and lower load lines
- Raise, lower and rotate boom or load by sight or according to signals from helper
- Observe load hook-up and safety of load
- Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times
- Perform daily inspection of cranes
- Monitor weather conditions and site conditions
- Clean, maintain and lubricate equipment
- Obtain the required permits
- Crane operator should be responsible at all times when operating a crane
- Crane operators should be versatile and have a cooperative attitude as they may be asked to do other jobs on construction sites when they are not operating a crane
- May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent
- Fill in for other people when sick or on vacation
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- One to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must have nationally accredited certification i.e. NCCCO, NCCER, CIC or OECP
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs
- Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Pay
$34.00-$42.00/hourly, commensurate with experience
