CRANE OPERATOR

Duties

  • Operate various hydraulic boom cranes to load, unload, move, and position heavy materials and equipment.
  • Make critical decisions regarding clearance requirements and recognize dangerous load situations to ensure safe operations.
  • Apply skills in using crane controls to make rapid judgments about lifting capacity, often in areas with restricted maneuverability.
  • Ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed, use personal protective equipment, and work in accordance with all required directives and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Complete the Operator's Daily Checklist (ODCL) to document pre- and post-crane inspections.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION

Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including:

  • Must have at least one year of experience in the operation of mobile cranes.
  • Possess knowledge of and have the ability to perform, crane operating, weight handling, and rigging operations procedures, regulations, processes, and operations of Category 1 weight handling equipment.
  • Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one.
  • Able to obtain a crane operator's physical.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.

Additional Requirements

  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Forklift certification within six months of onboarding.
  • May be required to work overtime, shift work, or call back.
  • This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
  • Several vacancies may be filled.
  • A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
