Duties and Responsibilities
- Operators typically work under direct supervision and will be required to sit, stand and move for extended hours at a time.
- Operate various types of cranes to move many different types of loads
- Perform routine maintenance and small repairs on equipment
- Maintain crane logs and repair reports
- Assist Superintendent in developing crane lift plans, critical lift plans, and possess the knowledge of developing one
- Absorb and understand all safety rules and procedures according to OSHA and Building Crafts Inc’s company safety policy
- Ability to operate different types of equipment a plus
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in the construction industry as a crane operator
- Must possess an appropriate NCCCO or equivalent crane operator certification
- Must possess an appropriate NCCCO or equivalent certification in rigging and signaling
- Experience with piling driving and sheet piling
- Knowledge of heavy machinery, operation and capabilities
- High School diploma or GED is preferred
- The candidate must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure
- Proper vision and hearing are required to be able to receive direction via verbal and hand signals
- Able to work effectively as a team
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to safely work with sharp tools and/or power equipment.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
- Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
