Crane Operator

About the role

The Crane Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating various cranes located on the docks and/or vessels. This includes lifting and moving heavy equipment, containers, pipe, systems, groceries, and various materials and supplies utilized in the oil and gas industry. The Friction Crane Operator will operate Truck and Crawler cranes, ranging from hydraulic to friction.

Responsibilities

• Operate crane to move material around site according to the plan or schedule.
• Inspect cranes before and after use to identify maintenance needs.
• Offload and backload equipment and material.
• Perform routine maintenance on the crane.
• Enter work orders, complete daily inspections, and close out orders in HELM.
• Perform jobs in a safe and expedient manner.
• Participate in the BBI Take 5 Program and utilize Stop Work Authority when necessary.

Requirements

• Commercial driving experience and a valid driver's license.
• Proficiency in materials handling and operating heavy equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and backhoes.
• Strong mechanical knowledge to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination for precise maneuvering of equipment.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• TWIC certification.

Skills

• Ability to work both in groups and individually to meet goals and develop strong working relationships with internal and external customers and team members.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb and descend multiple flights of stairs.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
