Craftsman Wire Harness Technician

Responsibilities

  • Support Project/Program Manager in project scheduling, data gathering/analyses, database manipulation or population, preparation of technical/project reports or briefings, test plans and reports, and associated documentation.
  • Oversee/perform test or project events as assigned by Program Manager or Engineering supervisor, report status and results.
  • Participate in test or project events as assigned by Manager.
  • Follow engineering guidance, technical orders, work instructions, and drawings.
  • Perform moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment (On-the-Job Training).
  • Perform and inspect wire terminations and wire harness assembly (On-the-Job Training).
  • Produce and inspect assemblies conforming to customer specifications (On-the-Job Training).
  • Assemble and/or solder per customer and/or industry standards (On-the-Job Training).
  • Perform electrical checkout of manufactured wire harnesses (On-the-Job Training).
  • Document records identifying compliance with assigned tasks regarding wire harness manufacturing (On-the-Job Training).
  • Establish, organize & maintain detailed inventory of government, customer and KIHOMAC property (On-the-Job Training).
  • Ability to operate braiding and wire cutting machines (On-the-Job Training).
  • Basic understanding of Electrostatic Sensitive Damage to electronic components (On-the-Job Training).
  • Train and assist other technicians on techniques and procedures.
  • Build/assemble electrical components according to designs, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Modify equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as per predetermined processes (On-the-Job Training).
  • Maintain high ethical/professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment always.
  • Observe all safety rules and maintains a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area.
  • Attend meetings and conferences to represent section.
  • Communicate with vendors to acquire quotes for hardware and materials (On-the-Job Training).
  • Perform hardware procurement through purchase requests (On-the-Job Training).
  • Document records identifying compliance with assigned tasks regarding wire harness manufacturing.
  • Report status and results.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Work unsupervised at times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate's Degree preferred.
    • IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 Certification preferred.
    • Experience: 3-10 years of professional experience in the required task area.
    • Ability to operate braiding and wire cutting machines (On-the-Job Training).
    • Wiring experience on aircraft and/or U.S. military aircraft maintenance preferred.
    • Familiarity with schematics, logic drawings, layouts, wire lists, and prints desired.
    • Ability to use various hand tools, soldering equipment, and machinery required.
    • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail required.
    • Basic understanding of electrical circuits preferred.
    • Wire termination experience using DMC Tools "Daniels Kit" style tools preferred.
    • Knowledge of cable assembly procedures desired.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively required.
    • Familiarity with USAF TO 1-1A-14 (AKA NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 or TM 1-1500-323-21-1) preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 preferred.
    • Capable of standing for long periods of time required.
    • Able to work cross functionally in other areas as needed.
    • Able to identify/assign priorities based on time constraints and resources available required.
    • Basic understanding of Electrostatic Sensitive Damage to electronic components (On-the-Job Training).
    • Must be able to perform business travel; Travel may involve multiple days/weeks (less than 10%).
    • Knowledge on Common Tool Kits use.
    • Security: Must be a US citizen. Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required.

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods of standing and walking, able to bend, stretch, work with hands, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
    • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, work inverted at times, work in tight and confined spaces (with provided training), reach with hands and arms, grasp, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls.
    • Frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements.
    • Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, respirator, etc.) for the assigned task.
    • Able to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds at a time.

    Schedule

    The projected salary range for this position is $21-27/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation, rather actual salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications or degrees held. Offered salary may fall outside of this range.
