Craftsman - Building Maintenance - HVAC

Valid Georgia driver’s license and Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) Recovery license required. High-school diploma or equivalent plus HVAC technical training; 2 years of HVAC/refrigeration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled installation, preventive maintenance, repairs, and operations of HVAC/refrigeration equipment, boilers, cooling towers, pumps/motors, chillers, chemical water-treatment systems, and direct-digital-control systems in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and building codes.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning HVAC/refrigeration equipment and controls.
• Install HVAC/refrigeration equipment per code.
• Maintain and regulate HVAC/refrigeration equipment accurately.
• Record repairs made and parts used according to departmental guidelines.
• Utilize computers and handheld work-order/inventory-management devices efficiently.
• Account for all tools, parts, and equipment issued; maintain truck stock.
• Supervise private contractors when assigned.
• Plan and direct daily work schedules for appointed personnel.
• Monitor and enforce safe work procedures and building/safety codes.
• Train contractors and other district employees as needed.
• Coordinate with other trades and departmental personnel to complete assignments.
• Work after normal hours, be on-call for seven-day periods, and respond to 24/7 call-outs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of HVAC/refrigeration codes, procedures, materials, and safety practices.

Physical Demands

• Stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods.
• Lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances.
• Operate a motor vehicle and manipulate tools and small items.
• Work in wide-ranging ambient temperature and humidity conditions, including overhead and confined spaces.
• Tolerate exposure to electricity, heat/noise-producing machinery, elevated equipment, and chemicals/solvents.
• Required vision abilities: close, distance, and color vision.
