About the role

This is an intern-level position where you will gain practical, hands-on experience in the utility industry under close supervision. The role involves learning to perform maintenance and installation work in high-voltage electrical substations. This position offers challenging projects, networking opportunities, and the chance to learn from experienced energy industry professionals in the energy transmission fields.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to assigned duties.
  • Develop the skills needed to progress to higher classifications through a combination of home study, classroom, and On the Job Training (OJT).
  • Identify any damaged or defective equipment or hazardous conditions and promptly report to supervision.
  • Keep all equipment, tools, materials, and work areas in a clean, orderly, and good working condition.
  • Perform other duties as directed by your superior.
  • Learn the safe and correct operation of tools and equipment used by Substation P&C and use them properly under the direction and guidance of others.
  • Become familiar with electrical prints, switching diagrams, technical manuals, maintenance, and test procedures associated with assigned duties.
  • Participate in a Training and Development program to develop a general knowledge of electrical fundamentals, electrical transmission and distribution equipment, and its operation, as well as a basic skill level in routine Substation P&C functions through a combination of classroom, at-home, and On-The-Job Training (OJT) programs.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Training program to learn and follow specific governmental, corporate, and departmental rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to SC&M functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in a technical field. Applicable degree fields include Engineering, Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Advanced Automation & Robotics Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2.50 GPA.
