Craft Recruiter
Assist in the recruitment and coordination of hiring skilled craftsmen, including outreach programs, job postings, screening resumes/job applications, performing interviews, administering craft tests, and serving as the primary point-of-contact for candidates throughout the recruiting process.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes information on prospective employee applications, conducts personal interviews, and determines suitability for employment.
- Performs background reference investigations (e.g., verification of licenses/certifications, reference checks, and work history) for qualified applicants.
- Builds and maintains an extensive pipeline of skilled craft personnel to actively fill staffing needs.
- Educates and trains internal customers (hiring managers) and support personnel on proper talent acquisition processes and procedures.
- Ensures adherence to equal employment opportunity (EEO) legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other government compliance requirements.
- Maintains necessary files covering applications, interviews, and hiring procedures.
- Monitors and remains current with industry trends and best practices in craft recruiting; recommends new or improved practices.
- Represents the company at conferences, associations, job fairs, and networking events to build relationships and promote the company.
- Works closely with Operations Personnel to manage and deploy internal employees to other project needs within the organization.
- Analyzes craft and technical personnel needs through discussions with operations management, project managers, and superintendents.
- Prepares and implements recruitment programs based on forecasted projections and immediate manpower needs.
- Assists operations management with short and long-term craft planning of needed resources.
Requirements
- 4-year degree preferred or combination of education and work experience.
- Ability to work with a diverse workforce.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of customer service.
- Willing and able to travel up to 25%.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English (read, write, and speak) is required.
- Previous high-volume recruiting experience.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- At least 4 years of experience assisting with or recruiting craft professionals in the construction industry.
- Two years of experience using an applicant tracking system or comparable database system.
- Working knowledge of iCIMS applicant tracking system preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest).
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
- Limited use of telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Occasionally climbs stairs, ladders, etc.
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects on a frequent basis.
- Frequent interaction with people during a shift/work day.
- Will lift, push, or pull objects on an occasional basis.
- Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
