Responsibilities
- Prepare students for employment by teaching construction fundamentals, jobsite safety, tool usage, and industry best practices.
- Deliver instruction in classroom, lab, or field-based settings, including evenings and weekends.
- Teach construction-related skills such as jobsite safety, tool usage, materials handling, blueprint reading, and trade-specific concepts.
- Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and hands-on learning activities.
- Demonstrate safe and proper use of construction tools, equipment, and materials.
- Evaluate student progress through assessments, projects, and skills demonstrations.
- Maintain attendance, student records, and required program documentation.
- Create a safe, organized, and productive learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with CPS staff regarding course progress and student needs.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, safety standards, and workforce trends.
- Participate in required instructor meetings, training, and professional development activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five (5) years of full-time construction industry experience in one or more trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, general construction, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience using hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, rigging, materials handling techniques, and jobsite safety practices.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- In addition to the above, candidates must possess one of the following:
- Completion of a registered apprenticeship;
- Journeyworker status;
- A relevant state-issued trade license (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related field);
- An associate degree or technical diploma in a construction-related field.
Pay
$75.00/hour
