COVER OP 1 1ST SHIFT

About the Role

A Covers Operator 1 is an entry-level position responsible for measuring, cutting, and moving material for fabrication according to design drawings or work orders. This role ensures quality control and prepares items for shipment in a timely manner. The position typically reports to an area supervisor, who reports to the Manufacturing ClearSpan Manager.

Responsibilities

• Set up all tools, appliances, machines, fixtures, and materials needed to fabricate the assigned product.
• Review work orders for instructions and/or special requirements.
• Measure, cut, and/or move materials into position for fabrication according to design drawings and work order instructions.
• Inspect all work for overall quality and identify any errors; correct or rework as necessary.
• Learn and perform the heat-sealing process.
• Prepare finished product for next transfer or shipment.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Adhere to all safety and OSHA regulations.
• Assist in all fabric operations and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of corporate production methods and safety procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and a tape measure.
• Safe and effective use of tools and equipment.
• Ability to handle production raw materials.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow directions.
• Good communication skills appropriate for the job.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Due to safety concerns, individuals who are pregnant, adolescent, or have a pacemaker cannot work on the machines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Forklift Certification is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Proficiency in basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Continuously stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally sit.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Perform various tasks involving carrying, pushing/pulling, kneeling, crawling, and squatting.

Work Environment

The work environment includes exposure to:

• Fluctuating indoor temperatures (cooler to warmer).
• Dry, dusty, humid, cold, or hot conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
