General Description
Accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records and controls.
Essential Job Functions
- Analyzes statistical, fiscal, and payroll records and reports of the department to determine the cost of operations of various activities.
- Participates in the routine accounting functions of posting, balancing and preparation of special reports.
- Affords assistance in the preparation of budget estimates and reviews encumbrances as to availability of funds.
- Performs a wide range of clerical/accounting-related tasks.
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge: Accounting principles and procedures particularly as they relate to public financial administration.
- Ability: Apply such knowledge to accounting transactions.
- Knowledge: Modern office machines, methods and procedures.
- Ability: Establish and maintain accounting records.
- Ability: Prepare complete accounting reports and statements.
- Ability: Acquire knowledge of the legal administrative and procedural regulations applicable to the department of assignment.
- Ability: Create and maintain spreadsheets and database files.
Minimum Requirements
- PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.
- Education, Training, And Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- One year of experience in the maintenance of accounting records.
- One year experience working with computer spreadsheet and database programs.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access preferred.
- Licenses, Certifications, Or Registrations: None.
