Typical Duties

  • Coordinates and schedules specialized departmental functions, meetings, and travel
  • Serves as lead staff
  • Provides training to assigned staff
  • Affords assistance with special projects as assigned
  • Prepares and maintains statistical and administrative reports
  • Gathers and prepares information for budgetary purposes
  • Creates, processes, and distributes confidential and sensitive documents and correspondence
  • Captures and preserves departmental records pertaining to the department
  • Communicates and acts as liaison with other departments, agencies, and the public
  • Attends Board of Supervisor meetings to accurately record actions and direction given to staff
  • Composes and types correspondence, agendas, minutes, reports, and other documents
  • May research pricing and vendors and prepare requisitions for needed goods and services
  • May receive and account for money

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position

Preferences

  • Proficiency working with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs
  • Experience with Liberty Digital Recording Software and audio/visual equipment preferred
  • Experience taking and creating minutes, knowledge of open meeting laws, and knowledge of government process preferred
  • Excellent grammar and writing skills, cataloguing and filing, tracking documents, and experience with verbal and written confidential information
  • Able to work under weekly deadline pressure, has accurate written and verbal communication skills, has the ability to summarize key points from meeting conversation involving multiple participants, and is detail oriented and sensitive to a political environment and confidential information
