Court Involved Therapist
Applewood Centers, Inc. (“Applewood”) is a private, nonprofit agency providing mental health services, social services, and education to children, adolescents, and families in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.
About the role
The Court Involved Therapist identifies, assesses, and treats young men and women referred to the Crossroads Program on the Lorain County Detention campus. Responsibilities include clinically assessing and diagnosing individuals, conducting counseling interventions with clients and families both at the center and in the home/community, and maintaining appropriate professional and clinical boundaries in a community-based setting. This position reports to the Division Director of Youth Justice Services at an off-campus location.
This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with a flexible weekly schedule to meet program and employee needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, detailed bio/psycho/social and/or chemical dependency assessments for youth referred to the program.
- Meet or exceed productivity targets and collect outcomes measures/data at designated reporting periods, including intake and discharge.
- Gather information for ongoing treatment needs and goals, and prepare detailed recommendations for clients upon step-down from the program.
- Develop comprehensive, diagnostic case conceptualizations and focused, measurable, and achievable service plans aligned with the client’s identified needs and cultural assessment.
- Articulate and present clinical findings, therapeutic goals, and recommendations to clients, families, and court staff professionally.
- Form and maintain collaborative working relationships with collateral professionals, court staff, and/or agencies concerning individual cases.
- Develop and maintain the clinical record through timely and legible completion of assigned documentation according to applicable licensing and accreditation regulations.
- Close cases in a timely manner, accurately completing aftercare plans and related paperwork, including treatment summaries.
- Attend weekly team meetings and supervisions on time and as scheduled; actively participate as a supportive team member.
- Actively and consistently participate in trainings and submit all necessary documentation and reports within contractual deadlines.
- Maintain a good on-time and attendance record.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and professional knowledge by attending agency training and reviewing professional publications.
- Keep trainings, certifications, and licensure current in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Respect client privacy and handle all information confidentially in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to agency policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Clinical Mental Health Counseling required; SUD/co-occurring treatment experience preferred.
- Valid Ohio LSW or LPC required; LISW or LPCC preferred.
- Strong clinical skills, including expertise in crisis intervention, diagnosis, clinical service referrals, brief mental health counseling, trauma-informed care, family systems theory, and motivational interviewing.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- Valid driver’s license with approved driving record (less than 6 points), personal transportation, and insurance if required to drive on behalf of the agency.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $50,000–$55,000 per year, depending on relevant experience and licensure.
