About the Role
The Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro, Oregon, is hiring a Court Facilitator/Protection Order Clerk to join the Family Law Assistance Program. In this role, you will assist self-represented family law litigants by providing information about court processes and procedures, helping complete child support calculation worksheets and court forms, and facilitating family law workshops on topics such as dissolution, child support, custody, and parenting time. You will also support the Northwest Oregon Facilitator Initiative program, process protective orders, new petitions, and other electronic filings, and perform data entry and document scanning into the electronic case management system.
You will work with the public, judges, court staff, the Family Justice Center, abuse prevention advocates, law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, Hillsboro Adult Protective Services, and other community partners. The support you provide will be in person, over the phone, and in writing. Assigned tasks may change to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide information to self-represented litigants about court processes and procedures for family law cases.
- Assist litigants in completing child support calculation worksheets and a variety of court forms.
- Facilitate family law workshops covering dissolution, child support, custody, and parenting time.
- Support the Northwest Oregon Facilitator Initiative program.
- Process protective orders, new petitions, and other electronic filings.
- Perform data entry and scan documents into the electronic case management system.
- Update case party details as needed.
- Coordinate with the Specialty Docket Clerk to schedule and prepare dockets for contested case hearings.
- Make and certify copies of documents.
- Route orders and judgments to judges for review and ruling.
- Work with diverse stakeholders, including the public, judges, court staff, and community partners.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years of clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of relevant experience.
Skills
- Experience managing multiple tasks, shifting quickly between priorities, and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced business or professional setting under strict deadlines.
- Experience using a variety of software programs to access, input, and manage information.
- Experience providing excellent customer service to individuals in challenging circumstances.
- Experience explaining processes, procedures, policies, or decisions on behalf of an employer.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and patient during interruptions or stressful situations.
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency (including ASL) is preferred and may qualify for a 5% bilingual skills allowance upon passing a skills test.

Pay
Salary range: $5,004 - $7,763 per month. Salary offers are made with consideration of the candidate’s education and experience.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a work schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek. Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.

- Work is performed in an office setting with frequent telephone conversations, long periods of standing (up to five hours per day), and extended periods of sitting while working at a computer.
- Regular use of telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
