Courier - Part Time

About the role

The Courier is responsible for obtaining samples from clients and delivering completed reports when needed. This part-time position is based at 6360 Gateway Dr, Cypress, CA 90603.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit safe driving skills and maintain a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier.
• Pick up samples from clients at arranged times and deliver them to the laboratory.
• Provide courteous client service and communicate any emerging client requirements to the laboratory as needed.
• Ensure departmental Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times.
• Check samples regularly to ensure the correct temperature is maintained.
• Maintain records of mileage, vehicle maintenance, and other important information for departmental records.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and required maintenance.
• Run errands for laboratory personnel to ensure timely analysis.
• May assist laboratory personnel with preparation and analysis of samples.
• May assist laboratory personnel with washing of laboratory equipment.
• Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document observations in accordance with the prescribed complaint system.
• Adhere to all safety policies.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Safe driving skills and a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier.
• Client relation skills for interacting with clients during deliveries.
• Time management skills to facilitate pickup of all scheduled deliveries.
• Skill to maintain the safety and integrity of samples.
• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Ability to perform routine tasks following established delivery procedures.
• Problem-solving skills for standard issues such as delays due to traffic, samples not ready for pickup, or mechanical difficulties.
• Flexibility to adapt to route changes with little notice.
• Knowledge of the geographic area and ability to follow supervisor advice for problem-solving.

Communication

The incumbent has frequent contact with clients to arrange sample deliveries.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Works primarily in a delivery vehicle, subject to environmental conditions at each delivery location.
• Lifting of up to 50-pound sample loads is required for daily deliveries.
• May work in a laboratory environment requiring a mask, laboratory coat, and insulated gloves.
• Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials.
• Extended time spent in a sitting position.

Pay

$21.00/hour USD.

Schedule

• Part-time hours.
• Weekends required.
• Must be available any day of the week to cover open pickups or days off.
