Courier (Courier/Specimen Receiving)

Job Summary

Responsible for picking up and delivering laboratory specimens, reports and supplies, pharmaceuticals, medical/surgical equipment, medical records, and documents as needed during the shift. Handles STAT pick-ups as requested.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the laboratory with checking requisitions
• Perform specimen records for laboratory specimens using LIS and HIS for order accessioning, labeling, delivery, and report preparation
• Answer phone calls and deliver samples for testing
• Assist with processing as needed

Requirements

• Requires possession of a valid and clean NYS driver's license
• Requires Associate's Degree
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Must be flexible, dependable, work well under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude
• Must have ability to walk, bend, push, pull, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

• 1-2 years with Prior clinical lab experience
• Work Days: Tuesday-Saturday 10:30pm-7:00am
