County Social Services Aide 3 (Local Government) - Delaware County C&Y

Description of Work

This position provides support services to children and families by working directly in their homes and partnering with caseworkers and social workers to strengthen service delivery. The role requires careful observation, strong communication, and independent judgment while helping families improve stability and access important resources.

Responsibilities

• Family Support: Assist families with childcare, home management, and locating community resources.
• Assessment Activities: Observe family needs and strengths and share findings with the worker to support service planning.
• Home Visits: Meet with families and agency staff to review tasks, responsibilities, and time frames.
• Relationship Building: Develop supportive relationships with families in a sensitive and responsive manner.
• Task Collaboration: Work with staff and families to update service plans and prepare families for completion of services.
• Community Contact: Help clients access community services and assist caseworkers with gathering necessary records.

Schedule

Full‑time employment. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. The position requires flexible hours according to need, which may include early morning, late evening, or weekends. Telework is not available.

Salary

In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable. Further communication regarding compensation will be provided via email.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements (one of the following):
  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 2; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of public‑contact work in a human services agency, including one year of interviewing and obtaining information; or
  • Associate’s degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences plus one year of experience in a human services agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Valid driver’s license that is not under suspension.
• Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
• Legal Requirements:
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Position falls under the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
