County Social Services Aide 1 (Local Government)

Fayette County Children and Youth is seeking a Social Services Aide to support the delivery of social services to youth and families. This role involves active involvement and advocacy for children and families involved with the agency, offering a generous benefit package and a supportive work environment.

About the role

This position supports the delivery of social services to youth and families by providing transportation, supervision, clerical work, and direct assistance to agency staff. It is an active role that plays a key part in helping caseworkers meet the needs of clients.

Responsibilities

• Client Transportation: Drive clients to court, school, appointments, or other agency-approved locations.
• Visit Supervision: Monitor and support family visits as scheduled by casework staff.
• Record Maintenance: Prepare and organize required documentation in line with agency policy.
• Testing Assistance: Conduct routine drug testing or DNA sample collection as directed by staff.
• Clerical Support: Complete scanning, filing, mailing, and other office tasks as assigned.
• Family Engagement: Build positive working relationships with families, caseworkers, and support staff.

Schedule

• Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: Opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, one scheduled day per week after supervisor approval and must hold regular status as SSA1. Requires a securely configured high-speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, reporting to the headquarters office in Uniontown is required. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement.
• Hiring preference may be given to candidates who live within Fayette County.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
• A conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
