About the role
The County of Santa Cruz is recruiting for three positions in the Civil Engineer Series: Civil Engineer ($9,831–12,442/month), Associate Civil Engineer ($8,923–11,287/month), and Assistant in Civil Engineering ($8,242–9,642/month). Hiring selection is planned for top candidates at each level.
Under general direction, you will perform difficult and responsible professional civil engineering work in the field and office. You may act as resident engineer on very large or complex construction projects and may supervise subordinate professional and sub-professional engineering personnel.
Current vacancies are in the Planning Permit Engineering Group and the Public Works Road Design sections of the Department of Community Development and Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Review development permits for site engineering requirements, compliance with the Public Works Design Criteria, and the Subdivision Map Act.
- Ensure compliance with County Grading, Erosion Control, and Geologic Hazards ordinances.
- Verify geotechnical requirements of the California Building Code.
- Design County transportation capital improvement projects, storm damage road repairs, and bridge rehabilitation projects.
- Act as resident engineer on large or complex construction projects.
- Supervise subordinate professional and sub-professional engineering personnel.
