Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and guidance to children and families according to their service plans.
  • Conduct case reviews and judicial evaluations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Gather information by speaking with callers and responding to referrals during regular working hours.
  • Complete investigations and assessments for assigned cases.

Schedule

  • Full-time employment with work hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, including a 1-hour lunch break.
  • On-call rotations and home visits, accommodating work and school schedules.
  • Caseworkers may telework one day per week or two days per pay period from home, subject to approval by the Director to ensure no more than 20% of caseworkers are away from the office on any given day.

Requirements

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college-level coursework, including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in the above fields and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar paraprofessional case management role.

Applicants within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits will be considered to have met the educational requirements.

Other Requirements

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license that is not under suspension.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
