About the role
Help Lead the Future of Public Finance in Santa Cruz County. The County of Santa Cruz is seeking an accomplished, visionary leader to serve as County Budget Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the County’s annual budget and long-range financial plans.
- Evaluate and recommend changes to existing systems, procedures, and programs based on fiscal efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure alignment between budget priorities and operational needs.
- Provide strategic financial advice to the County Board of Supervisors and other decision-makers.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding financial reporting and management practices.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college with a major in business administration, public administration, management, finance, economics, accounting or a related field.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a governmental agency with responsibility performing professional-level budgetary analysis, including systems, procedures, and program evaluation.
- A master’s degree is desirable, and may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
Pay
Salary: $226,117 – 303,056 Annually
