County Attorney

Major Duties

• Records property transfers; receives and stamps deeds; maintains log of deeds processed; submits property splits to Mapping Technician; mails necessary forms; compiles sales report for public viewing.
• Enters data to computer; verifies accuracy of property and parcel information.
• Prepares and sends courtesy tax bills to new property owners.
• Calculates and compiles actual rollback tax information for auditing purposes.
• Affords assistance to the public in person and by telephone, including providing information regarding parcel numbers, addresses, size, property and building locations, appraised values, manufactured homes, legal residence, and agricultural use.
• Affords assistance to appraisers and mappers.
• Affords assistance with deeds.
• Affords assistance with legal residence verifications.

Knowledge Required

• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of various real estate forms and documents, including deeds, plats, and sales contracts.
• Skill in reading and interpreting maps and deed information.
• Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
• Skill in operating a computer and standard office equipment.
• Skill in dealing with the public.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Physical Demands

• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table with intermittent standing, bending, crouching, or stooping.
• The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.

Work Environment

• The work is typically performed in an office setting.
