About the Role

The Country Group Forming Discipline Leader (DNL) is responsible for implementing significant improvements in manufacturing capabilities related to the Forming discipline and driving performance enhancements across the country group. This role ensures the standardization and execution of GMF best practice processes while providing technical leadership and expertise to O-I North America facilities. The position focuses on process, productivity, and quality improvements, as well as building capabilities through training, coaching, and mentoring. Strong leadership and relationship-building skills are essential, as the role requires influencing rather than directing teams across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Establish close working relationships with manufacturing personnel to ensure safety, process, and organizational requirements are met by providing technical training and leadership to build factory capability.
  • Identify and direct continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational excellence in forehearth, IS Machine maintenance, operation, and efficiencies.
  • Support country group Plant Network Leaders in executing Manufacturing Fundamentals non-negotiables and baseline requirements.
  • Lead yearly audit assessments and reviews for assigned factories and/or Focus Factories.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for highly complex technical issues, providing remote and/or field technical assistance, and delivering technical reports as needed.
  • Develop regional forming capability through training, coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and stabilization activities for new equipment, major repairs, and product introductions.
  • Partner with Engineering, Mold Design, Glass Science, Furnace, Quality, and Machine Repair functions to resolve complex manufacturing issues.
  • Lead and participate in country group and global network meetings related to the discipline, representing the interests of the country group.
  • Support regional manufacturing facilities in developing discipline goals and targets, driving accountability through focused reporting.
  • Lead and exemplify O-I’s core safety principles in all plant activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (trade or mechanical preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the required technical area, with detailed knowledge of applicable processes and associated equipment.
  • Proven experience leading and influencing others to change and improve technical processes.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Glass plant experience desired.
  • Strong fundamental computer skills, including proficiency in email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Enablon (training provided).

Travel

This role requires up to 50% to 75% travel, depending on activity levels and initiatives in the country group. Travel is typically Monday through Friday, but some weekend work/travel may be expected.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $140,000, with an additional 12% short-term incentive (STI). Actual pay will be adjusted based on candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
