About the role
The Counter Sales Representative will sell electrical supplies, parts, and equipment at counter locations while supporting warehouse operations such as Receiving, Stocking, Shipping, Order Processing, and Replenishment.
Responsibilities
- Determine the make and type of product needed
- Discuss use and features of various parts with customers
- Research replacement part stock numbers and prices
- Fill customer orders from stock
- Place special orders and branch transfers for nonstock or backordered items
- Receive payment or obtain credit authorization
- Advise customers on substitutions or modifications when replacements are unavailable
- Receive and fill telephone orders
- Assist customers with gathering and loading material into their vehicles
- Make proactive telephone calls to potential and existing customers
- Greet customers in a timely, professional, and courteous manner
- Maintain a professional appearance and a clean work area
- Operate computers to order, enter, and retrieve data
- Sort and place material on racks, shelves, or in bins
- Construct orders by delivery area to prevent damage during transit
- Box and label material
- Examine returned parts to determine if defective, then exchange or refund
- Assist in organizing the counter
- Verify correct quantities and items for all sections
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ years of related customer service experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong math and reading skills
- Forklift certification preferred
Physical Demands
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and slide packages up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching with arms, and constant use of hands
- Stand on feet for the majority of an 8-hour day
- Continuous mental and visual alertness to maintain safety and accuracy
- Flexibility and mobility in body movements
- Occasionally lift items over 50 lbs with assistance
