Counter Sales Representative

About the role

The Counter Sales Representative plays a crucial role in providing immediate service and product knowledge to customers. They assist in driving sales and building relationships with both new and existing customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers promptly and courteously with their purchases and processing of their orders or returns
  • Aid in driving electrical distribution sales for the counter business and develop new and existing customer relationships
  • Stay informed and educated on product knowledge
  • Inform the manager of any potentially hazardous or elevated situations regarding safety or customer satisfaction
  • Aid with daily restocking, showroom maintenance, and keeping the showroom and counter clean and organized
  • May be required to perform other job functions within a branch when required, including but not limited to inside sales, preparing and filling orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material, and maintaining branch equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer service, sales, or electrical distribution experience preferred
  • Previous branch experience preferred
  • Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred
  • High School or GED - Required
  • Knowledge of electrical product knowledge and experience, including lighting, switchgear, controls, and electrical commodities
  • Familiarity with automated order entry systems & PCs running Windows-based software
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate on all levels within internal and external groups
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good team player
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to type on a computer keyboard
  • Great attitude
  • Desire to improve electrical product knowledge
