Counter Sales

Sid Harvey’s, an HVAC wholesale distributor of heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment and products, is seeking a full-time HVAC Counter Sales for its State College, PA location.

About the role

Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers promptly and courteously with their purchases and efficient processing of their orders. Generate sales through excellent customer service, add-on, and up-selling. Perform all job responsibilities in a safe, timely, and efficient manner while representing Sid Harvey’s in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Promptly assist customers at the counter by asking pertinent questions, providing needed information, taking orders, and delivering excellent customer service.
• Conduct yourself in a professional and ethical manner at all times, treating external and internal customers and associates with courtesy and respect.
• Effectively promote MITCO and Sid Harvey manufactured and remanufactured products to drive customer up-selling.
• Perform data entry and retrieval on the computer system, including entering customer orders, branch transfers, obtaining quotation information, inventory details, and pricing.
• Follow up on customer orders, resolve problems to the customer’s satisfaction, and respond to customers in a timely manner. Notify the Branch Manager of any missed opportunities, such as out-of-stock or unavailable merchandise.
• Answer telephones professionally and pleasantly, assisting customers, taking orders, and providing excellent customer service.
• Provide product and job quotes as appropriate.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Sid Harvey products (e.g., air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating) to meet customer needs.
• Continuously update product knowledge through available resources and stay informed about product inventory and applicability.
• Know the location of merchandise in the warehouse.
• Effectively communicate relevant policies and procedures regarding purchases, returns, and credit terms to customers.
• Assist in maintaining the appearance of the branch, including straightening, cleaning counter areas, warehouse, and bathrooms.
• Report back orders and material discrepancies.
• Accurately perform cycle counts as required.
• Perform all duties safely, following all safety rules, and inform the manager of any potentially hazardous conditions.
• Assist in year-end physical inventories as requested.
• Operate a forklift and/or pallet jack safely.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.

Requirements

• Regularly stand, walk, carry, and reach while performing job duties.
• Regularly lift up to 25 lbs, frequently lift up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
• Regularly talk, hear, read, and identify numbers for accurate order filling, receiving of material, and payment processing.
• Apply sound reasoning and logic in performing daily tasks.
• Pass a drug test.
