About the role

We are hiring a Counter Sales Associate in Gaylord, MI. This position requires a strong background in product, warehouse, or sales environments, with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience. We value candidates with a background in gas, welding, or safety supplies, as well as those familiar with SAP, Google, or MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted guide, advising customers on the tools, hardware, and materials needed for their projects.
  • Demonstrate equipment use to build customer confidence and share insights on product quality.
  • Manage order entry and processes, assist with deposit reconciliation, and coordinate with customers and team members.
  • Contribute to an outgoing call strategy to support the continued growth and success of the branch.
  • Coordinate the transfer of merchandise between locations to meet customer needs.
  • Stock shelves and maintain welcoming showroom displays to provide an excellent customer experience.
  • Partners with customers to identify the best tools and procedures for their specific tasks.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
  • Adhere to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment to ensure a secure environment for everyone.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external partners, fostering understanding and long-term relationships.
  • Operate in a drug-free workplace and be available for occasional overtime when needed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments (equivalent combination of education and unique life experience may also be considered).
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
  • Attention to detail in handling transactions.
  • Availability for occasional overtime when the team needs extra support.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A background in gas, welding, or safety supplies.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Google, or MS Office Applications.
  • A detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.
