Counter Customer Service/Sales Associate

About the role

The Counter Sales Associate plays a crucial role in supporting HVAC contractors by answering phone calls, greeting customers, and providing product and technical information. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of HVAC and building supplies, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming telephone calls and greet customers
• Develop great working relationships and rapport with customers
• Generate new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information
• Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions
• Create solutions with Johnstone products and services
• Accurately process customer transactions such as sales orders, quotes, or returns
• Provide accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items
• Increase sales and average order size through cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales, and offering promotional sale items
• Educate customers about product terminology, features, and benefits
• Clean, organize, and stock showroom floor and counter areas
• Maintain proficiency in using personal computer, data entry terminal, and other common office equipment and software
• Work well as a team player and follow Company Policies/Store Standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2+ years of experience in customer service or sales
• Knowledge of HVAC and/or building supplies preferred
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Proficiency with computers and different software required
• Knowledge on how to navigate the internet to find products for customers
