Counter Attendant

About the role

Counter attendants are responsible for promoting coffee consumption by educating customers; selling coffee, coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies. They perform a variety of tasks, including money management, such as receiving money, operating a computerized cash register, running daily financial reports, counting money, and reconciling for accurate daily reports and deposits. They must maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation in the preparation and serving of food.

Responsibilities

• Educate customers and promote coffee consumption
• Sell coffee, coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies
• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, pastries, and cookies
• Operate a computerized cash register and handle money management tasks, including receiving money, running daily financial reports, counting money, and reconciling daily reports and deposits
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation and serving areas
• Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
• Ability to read, write, speak, and follow oral and written instructions
• Basic knowledge of food handling and sanitation
• Dependable and cooperative
• Knowledge of cash register operation and money handling, including making change, counting, and programming of cash register
• High degree of responsibility, reliability, and integrity in handling money
• Neat appearance and courteous demeanor when dealing with the public
