Counselor (Full Time)

Location: Gratitude Halfway House (Women's), 901 6th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602

About the role

Responsible for facilitating all clinical services for the program as outlined by facility standards and in accordance with the clinical philosophy of the program.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs of clients and family members and consults with the treatment team regularly for the development of and progress towards treatment goals in accordance with clinical policy and accreditation guidelines.
• Facilitates all clinical services for clients including individual and family sessions, therapeutic groups, and referral source/outpatient provider contact as applicable.
• Responsible for maintaining clinical records for clients with appropriate documentation of clinical services and client program engagement in ECR in accordance with program policy.
• Provides documentation and support for utilization review in a timely way and participates in the UR process as outlined in program policy.
• Participates in aftercare plan development and outcome data process as applicable.
• Contributes to program-specific curriculum development, literature review, and training in accordance with clinical philosophy.
• Participates in on-call rotation as directed by supervisor and in accordance with program policy.
• Conducts Level of Care Assessments as required.
• Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients including crisis intervention.
• Completes all required trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling with a Master’s level licensure: Marriage and family therapy, social work, professional counseling, or certification by a statewide certification board (CAADC).
• Master’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling and working towards a Master’s level licensure (Marriage and family therapy, social work, professional counseling), or certification by a statewide certification board (CAADC).
• Bachelor’s Level with a CADC or working towards a CADC with a minimum of one year of qualifying clinical experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent with a CAAC.
• Current licensure in this Commonwealth as a registered nurse and a degree from an accredited school of nursing and one year of qualifying clinical experience.
• ASAM-aligned Co-Occurring enhanced programs must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling with a Master’s level licensure: Marriage and family therapy, social work, professional counseling.
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling and working towards a Master’s level licensure (Marriage and family therapy, social work, professional counseling), or certification by a statewide certification board (CAADC).

• A working knowledge of federal and state standards as well as regulating body and compliance standards.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to talk or hear.
• Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to climb stairs, stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, or crouch.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Must seldom lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Noise level is usually moderately quiet and indoors.
• Position will be scheduled based on operational need and will require providing own transportation.
• May be exposed to virus, disease, and/or infection from clients in the work environment.
• May be exposed to traumatic situations (e.g., psychiatric).
