Basic Purpose
This position is responsible for conducting individual and group counseling sessions for the program youth and prepares students to transition to placement immediately following completion of the program. Also provides classroom instruction of job skills and life coping skills curriculum.
Essential Functions
- Conduct individual, group and crisis counseling to positively affect retention of cadets and to identify their life/career goals.
- Provide daily feedback on cadets' progress to supervisor.
- Provide individual counseling and group guidance in the areas of life coping skills, drug and alcohol education, character education, as well as individual/personal issues.
- Aid in retaining cadets as needed.
- Coordinate and schedule guest speakers and field trips appropriate to counseling group subject matter.
- Attend educational, institutional, and department meetings and trainings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to handle confidential information; exercise sound judgment in interpreting and applying rules or policy.
- Internet and computer skills for program database entry.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or related field required.
- Masters and Licensure (LPC/LBP) preferred.
Licenses/Certificates Required
- LPC/LBP preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Conditions Of Employment
- Contingent on a favorable background check.
- Contingent on passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- T1/CNACI security clearance (Eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. Citizens).
- Serves a 12-month trial period.
- Contingent on receiving continuous federal funding.
Notes
- This position is located in Pryor, Oklahoma.
- Employment eligibility verified through e-Verify (Homeland Security), and a National Agency Check for positions that require computer access.
- This position requires travel in and out of state with overnight stays.
- Travel may be required at the expense of the Employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.
