Counselor

Location: Shirley, MA – Shirley Souza Baranowski Massachusetts Correctional Institution

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Pay

Base rate: $26.92 per hour ($56,000 annually). Candidates who successfully complete and pass an internal Spanish Fluency Assessment are eligible for a 10% salary increase, raising the rate to $29.62 per hour ($61,000 annually).

Responsibilities

• Ensure all inmates receive education in the curriculum approved by the Department of Corrections and maintain written documentation in case records.
• Participate in a multi‑disciplinary team meeting on a weekly basis or as directed.
• Work the hours required to meet organizational business needs, including the ability to work more than 40 hours per week and to cover evening and weekend programming as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/MA or two years equivalent experience in criminal justice, human services, education, or a closely related field (required).
• DOC experience and/or Alcohol/Drug certification (preferred).
