Counselor

About the role

The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Inc. is seeking to fill several positions within the Residential Division. These positions include Residential Counselors at various locations with varying schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide the support needed to maximize the successful integration of participants into independent community living
• Provide support, guidance, and hands-on assistance in learning and relearning skills of independent daily living
• Offer contact and instruction to promote wellness and recovery
• Provide structure, coordination of services, and act as liaisons to other agencies
• Offer supportive, goal-oriented counseling when needed, with a focus on decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Aid in case management duties including securing and maintaining housing, applying for services, etc.
• Help and coordinate transportation
• Plan and encourage recreational activities

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency and adaptability with computer software and web-based systems
• Ability to work with a diverse population of urban, suburban, and rural cultures
• Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
• Valid NYS driver's license with a MVR eligible for agency insurance coverage and reliable transportation
• Regular and steady attendance is required
