About the role
Provides individual clinical services and appropriate assessments, such as mental health, suicide, and risk assessments for Boys Ranch residents. Facilitates and/or co-facilitates therapeutic and/or psycho-educational groups, and assists with the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy programs.
Responsibilities
- Provides clinical psychoeducation aligned with Boys Ranch's model, vision, and approach, and adheres to licensing regulations and standards.
- Makes clinical recommendations regarding appropriate interventions and provides additional support as needed.
- Assists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical interventions for identified residents.
- Provides training to Boys Ranch staff related to clinical issues and challenges affecting kids in residential care.
- Collaborates with Boys Ranch staff to assess and refer residents for external contract services, medication reviews, and POS design.
- Attends and participates in Intensive Team Meetings and assists in developing team-centered approaches for residents who are struggling.
- Assists in the design, facilitation, and evaluation of therapeutic group processes.
- Provides crisis intervention for residents, including the use of approved verbal and physical intervention techniques and appropriate assessments regarding specific incidents of abuse or potential abuse.
- Attends and participates in assigned Youth Activity Programs on and off campus, lending clinical support for residents and staff involved in these services.
- Assists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of Equine programs.
- Aids in the coordination and facilitation of the "transfer of learning" as it relates to significant clinical issues affecting a child's milieu.
Requirements
- A Master's degree from an accredited university in Social Work, Child Psychology, Counseling, Human Services Administration, or related field is required.
- A license from the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners, Texas State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, Texas State Board of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Texas State Board of Psychologists, or similar licensure is required.
- Experience in equine and/or other experiential therapies is preferred.
- Basic competency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.
- Must be proficient in general office equipment operation.
- Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Available for travel as needed.
