Counseling Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) Clovis Community College

The instructor will teach Counseling courses in various formats (face-to-face, online, hybrid) and fulfill all duties outlined in Administrative Regulation 7122.

Responsibilities

• Teach a part-time schedule of Counseling courses as assigned.
• Use diverse pedagogies and integrate technology for face-to-face, online, and hybrid instruction.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Employ teaching methods aligned with institutionally approved curriculum and course outlines.
• Evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and examinations.
• Provide course syllabi to students and maintain classroom records per District Policy.
• Submit grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
• Teach in various instructional settings and times, including as needed.
• Fulfill all instructor duties as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, including academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, and ethnic diversity, with a commitment to equity-minded practices.

• Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family, and child counseling; or
• A valid California Community College Credential; or
• Equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency petition).

Note: A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed fields and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities.
• Recent experience working with racially minoritized students (e.g., African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American) and understanding historical exclusion patterns in higher education.
• Willingness to examine and improve instructional and relational practices to support racially minoritized students.
• Related work or professional experience.
• Experience with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
• Experience supporting underrepresented populations (e.g., students of color, foster youth).
• Facilitation of multicultural and cross-cultural communication with sensitivity.
• Experience with under-prepared and high-need community college students.
• Collaborative work with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success.
• Proficiency with instructional technologies.
• Effective communication with students and staff.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
• Understanding of the community college mission and goals.

Pay

Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule. Salary classification is based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
