Counsel - Litigation

About the role

7‑Eleven is seeking a highly accomplished, experienced litigation attorney to join its Legal team as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor. This role will manage a significant portfolio of litigation and pre‑litigation matters across the United States and Canada, with a primary focus on premises liability, personal injury, and general liability claims. The position is 100 % based in the Irving, TX corporate office.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a high‑volume portfolio of litigation and pre‑litigation matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies in alignment with business objectives and risk tolerance.
• Direct and manage outside counsel, including case strategy, performance, budgets, and overall legal spend.
• Provide legal guidance to business leaders on claims, investigations, dispute resolution, and risk management issues.
• Oversee litigation support resources and manage all aspects of e‑discovery, including preservation, collection, review, and production of documents.
• Analyze litigation trends and claims data to identify emerging risks and recommend proactive solutions.
• Develop and enhance litigation processes, reporting, and governance practices to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Support compliance, policy development, training, and enterprise‑wide risk reduction initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active license to practice law.
• 5+ years of litigation experience, including management of complex or high‑volume case portfolios.
• Strong background in premises liability, personal injury, general liability, or related litigation matters.
• Demonstrated success managing outside counsel and driving favorable business and legal outcomes.
• Knowledge of litigation strategy, claims management, e‑discovery, and risk mitigation practices.
• Excellent legal judgment, communication, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
• Experience supporting large retail, restaurant, hospitality, franchise, or consumer‑facing organizations.
• Familiarity with litigation analytics, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
• A collaborative, business‑oriented approach with the ability to influence stakeholders and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
