Counsel -- Global Commercial Operations

About the role

Join Amgen’s mission of serving patients. In this vital role, you will counsel Amgen’s Global Commercial Operations clients on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues concerning promotion, sales, patient support programs, contracting, education, and scientific exchange regarding biopharmaceutical products regulated by several U.S. Federal government entities.

Responsibilities

• Advise and counsel on fraud and abuse matters relating to commercial activities involving members of the healthcare community (including payers, pharmacies, providers, and patient and professional advocacy groups and associations), with emphasis on the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act.
• Assess proposed and ongoing patient support programs for legal risk.
• Analyze, review, and approve promotional, educational, and patient support programs and materials.
• Advise key stakeholders on legal, regulatory, and policy developments to ensure legal support adapts to a rapidly changing environment.
• Provide guidance on proposed sales and marketing strategies.
• Advise on interconnected issues of law and policy relating to government healthcare programs.
• Coordinate legal support as a member of cross-functional teams and interact with business and law department colleagues on various matters.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Two (2) years of experience practicing law.

• Experience with healthcare law (Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, Medicare/Medicaid/340B) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of corporate, government, and/or law firm experience.

Pay

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
