Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, customer agreements, partnership agreements, content distribution deals, and intellectual property licenses.
- Provide legal guidance and support across all divisions of the company, including Sports and Entertainment, Science and Education, and Parks and Attractions.
- Structure and support corporate transactions, including strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and commercial collaborations that directly drive Cosm's expansion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners, collaborating with departments such as Product, Venues, Technology, Accounting, Finance, and Customer Service to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Develop, improve, and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and internal legal processes to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times, helping the business move faster without increasing risk.
- Assist in developing and implementing company policies and procedures to support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide legal training and practical guidance to business teams, building a culture of smart risk-taking and commercial awareness across the organization.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in California (or eligibility for registered in-house counsel status).
- 3 to 5 years of corporate and transactional experience, ideally from a major law firm or in-house at a technology, media, or entertainment company, with meaningful exposure to commercial contracts.
- Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable business guidance.
- Familiarity with intellectual property licensing, SaaS/technology agreements, or content distribution arrangements.
- AI-native and frontier-minded, with genuine fluency in using emerging technologies to work faster and more effectively.
- High agency and a strong commercial instinct, with a bias toward action and ownership.
