Cottage Parents - Family-Style Residential Homes
About the role
The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is seeking married couples to live and work with youth in one of their family-style residential homes. This is a full-time, permanent position that involves living on campus for 14 days and off-duty for 7 days.
Responsibilities
- Provide youth with a strong parental role model
- Implement a professional family-style program emphasizing skill acquisition and personal development
- Create a safe and secure environment for youth to grow and learn
- Teach and develop social, self-help, academic, and independent living skills
- Foster moral and spiritual development through various activities
- Administer the day-to-day operations of a large family residence including paperwork, domestic responsibilities, and other assigned duties
- Work closely with other child care professionals as a team
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent (with some college credits preferred)
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
- A good driving record
- A concern for youth and the ability and desire to work and live with them
- A strong desire to work in the human services field

- Ability to handle challenging situations with youth
- Proficiency in managing daily household tasks
- Experience working with youth who have low self-esteem, academic failure, and problem behavior

Pay
The combined annual salary is $74,880.
Schedule
The work schedule is generally 14 days on then 7 days off. Occasionally, may be required to work in outdoor weather conditions.
Working Conditions
While on duty, the nature of this position requires being available 24 hours a day.
Background Screening
Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, as required by Florida law.
