Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy treatments as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Follow physician orders and individualized treatment plans
- Document daily treatments, weekly progress notes, and resident outcomes accurately and timely
- Maintain a safe therapy environment by reporting equipment concerns and assisting in its maintenance
- Communicate updates to the Occupational Therapist regarding resident progress
- Aid nursing staff in training and implementing restorative programs
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, rehabilitation meetings, and discharge planning activities
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers on maintenance programs and discharge recommendations
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of therapy equipment and treatment areas
- Participate in staff education and in-service training programs
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and payer requirements
Requirements
- Current South Carolina Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in good standing
- Maintain all required continuing education requirements
- Must remain in good standing with the applicable State Board
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred
- Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) and Casamba preferred
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
