Job Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of an OTR and according to state guidelines.
- Absorb and refer appropriate patients to rehab as directed by the OTR.
- Document patient’s daily participation and progress on progress notes in an accurate and timely manner, and obtain the co-signature of the OTR.
- Achieve and obtain MD orders for treatments, re-certifications, and discharges.
- Complete other documentation requirements as indicated and according to state guidelines.
- Attend facility and rehab meetings when required by the Supervisor.
- Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
- Schedule patients as needed based on the guidance of the Supervisor.
- Bill patients for occupational therapy services rendered ethically and accurately.
- Cover other therapists' patient caseloads during their absence.
- Supervise junior COTA staff members or students as necessary.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, facility staff, patients, and patient families.
- Offer in-service education regarding patient care or occupational therapy services to rehab staff, facility staff, hospitals, and/or the community as needed.
- Comply with all facility policies and procedures.
- Adhere to productivity requirements, complete productivity reports, and submit them in a timely manner.
- Contribute to a positive work atmosphere by demonstrating and communicating in a professional manner.
- Follow lunch, sick, and time off notification policies as outlined by Facility HR.
- Adhere to all Facility written and oral policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Occupational Therapy that is recognized by the AOTA.
- Holds current license and/or registration in the state (as applicable).
- SNF experience preferred.
