Costumed Character Performer

Lead and/or perform in character-themed shows following basic scripts and using improvisation as needed. Must be a confident performer capable of engaging live audiences, including performing basic dance routines and singing while in character costume.

Responsibilities

• Encourage, recruit, register, and schedule guests for activities.
• Promote a fun, energized, and comfortable atmosphere.
• Provide information about recreation facilities and activities, including tours.
• Host live events and activities.
• Explain and promote facility rules for guest safety.
• Observe activities and respond appropriately in emergencies.
• Identify guests who may not safely participate in activities and inform supervisors.
• Prepare for shows and clean/maintain equipment and supplies.
• Follow company, safety, and security policies.
• Ensure uniforms and personal appearance are clean and professional.

Requirements

• Accurately and consistently portray pre-determined character styles, mannerisms, and characteristics.
• Perform inside bulky, hot costumes for extended periods.
• Maintain size and weight requirements based on costume specifications (height range: 5’–5’3” preferred).
• Work with large groups and children.
• Stand for extended periods.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of customer or sales experience.
• Previous public performance, acting, or entertainment experience.
• Experience entertaining children and large groups.
