Cost Specialist, Project Controls Specialist I

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with appropriate internal / external stakeholders to develop and establish an approved project cost control and reporting methodology in compliance with established project policies and procedures;
  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with established procedures and cost reporting requirements;
  • Responsible for understanding the complete scope of work and the project estimate;
  • Analyze variances in cost performance against the plan, and communicate the reasons for the issuance of variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Liaise with project stakeholders to clarify any cost-related issues;
  • Recommend solutions or recovery plans to schedule/cost impact or delays;
  • Prepare reports for the project as required;
  • Implement cost control functions including controlling authorizations of expenditure and cash flow projections;
  • Coverage check-estimates, as required, with the Project Estimator.

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years if non-degreed;
  • Some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements;
  • Technical skills in Cost & Schedule Management, Earned Value & Change Management;
  • Effective and objective decision-making capabilities by gathering information;
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are important;
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage priorities is important;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment;
  • Ability to maintain confidential information is critical.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Cost specialist for a medium to large sized project;
  • Preferred Qualifications: Degree in engineering or a recognized business program.

Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range

$74,000.00 - $138,000.00
