About the role

The position leads and manages Metro District cost estimating activities. The incumbent will ensure application of consistent cost estimate process and procedures, maintain accuracy of all cost estimates, stay updated on advancements in cost estimation, and foster this expertise as a Metro District core competency. The incumbent will develop conceptual design comparative cost estimates to assist MnDOT in determining the best value alternative.

Responsibilities

  • Foster expertise in cost estimation as a Metro District core competency
  • Develop conceptual design comparative cost estimates to assist MnDOT in determining the best value alternative

Requirements

  • Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university AND two years of post-graduation civil engineering work OR a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university or equivalent AND one year of post-graduation civil engineering work.
  • A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

  • Sufficient human relations skills to work cooperatively with others as part of a team.
  • Sufficient communication skills to communicate ideas and concepts verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to manage cost estimating activities effectively.
  • Knowledge of cost estimation techniques and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Pay

  • Engineer Senior: $39.06 - $57.47 / hourly; $81,557 - $119,997 / annually
  • Engineer Graduate 2: $32.13 - $47.49 / hourly; $67,087 - $99,159 / annually
